They Don't Build Tanks Anymore

This is a picture taken by my brother Johannes in a town near where he goes to school in Germany. Its an old tank factory that was used by the military of the Third Reich during World War II. Despite it being long out of use and abandoned, he said that it was one of the scariest things he's experienced.
As far as the photograph itself, I really like how the color of the box in the middle is so illuminated, I think it draws attention to the center of the photo. Apart from that, I like his choice to take the photo at dusk/night because it definitely adds an element of the building being so desolate to the photo.

First a brief background and explanation of the picture on the right:

These are my grandparents. This was taken by my exchange student/brother Johannes Reabel, in downtown Chicago when him, my grandparents, and I all participated in an anti-war protest in the streets.


Although for most of the evening he was using it, I really think that utilizing his greyfilter on this picture adds a lot more interest into the photo. Without the distraction of color, the facial expressions are far more visible. The lack of color also causes my grandparents to be the obvious subjects as the eyes is naturally drawn to them.
